Drawing Landscapes
Bible:
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27
Everyone is creative. Creativity is hardwired into our DNA by God himself. All of us were made to be creative people. Creative juices run hot through our veins. In this final project you will be applying your creativity and what you have learned thus far.
Objectives:
You will apply your God given creativity and what you have learned thus far to create a landscape drawing that exhibits your own personal artistic ideas.
Materials:
paper, pencil, eraser, pen, markers, colored pencils
Process:
- As a class, we will go outside to draw.
- Make quick sketches for a landscape drawing using simple lines and basic shapes (contour/gesture). Think about variety in line, pattern, proportion, value, texture, and shape. Use your pencil to take measurements.
- Choose your best sketch and make a light underdrawing of shapes and forms.
- Look carefully at your underdrawing. Are all the objects in proportion? Did you use your space appropriately? Do you need to make any adjustments?
- Once you are happy with your underdrawing add value and texture. You may use pencil, colored pencil, or marker for your final drawing.
- Break into groups of 2 or 3. Use the evaluation form to evaluate each others artwork. Discuss your evaluations. Be honest but kind.
- On an index card write 4 sentences about your project. Include what you like and what you would change.
