Interactive Drawing
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men...
Colossians 3:23
An interactive drawing is a drawing that interacts with the human world in a creative way. Check out these examples.
Objectives:
In this lesson you will brainstorm ideas that involve a simple interactive drawing. You will work with a partner to take a photograph of your drawing and interaction. You will upload your photograph to our school ARTSONIA website.
Materials:
paper, drawing books, pencils, erasers, black sharpies, iPads
Process:
- Brainstorm ideas of simple drawings (animals, plants, motor vehicles, people, school supplies, etc.) YOU MAY NOT COPY ANY OF THE EXAMPLES THAT YOU SEE HERE.
- Gather resources to help you draw your idea. Look at the drawing books, magazines, or do an image search.
- Brainstorm ideas of how your drawing could interact with a real object in a photograph, like the pictures above. (You may NOT show your face in the picture.)
- Draw your drawing on blank white paper. Use only pencil or sharpie marker. No color please. Think about your composition and how it will also set up in a photograph.
- Finish your drawing and set up your photo shoot. You may work with a partner on this part. Use one of the iPads to take the photo of your work.
- Open the camera on the iPad and frame your shot--meaning center your subject matter (your drawing interacting with the object) and take the picture. Take a few pictures if you like, but delete the ones that you do not want to use after you're finished. You should have ONE finished photograph saved to the camera roll. Remember, your face CAN NOT be in the photo.
