Shape People -- the first lesson for Kindergarten

Objectives:
Students will explore and experiment with art skills while learning to follow simple directions.
Materials:
Construction paper; glue sponges; scissors; crayons; shape printout paper

Pass out a printout of shapes & a colored piece of construction paper to each student.
Give the following directions and allow time for students to complete each step.

- In the 2 rectangles make a pattern with straight lines.
- Color in the 2 ovals.
- Make a design in the triangle so that it looks like a party hat.
- Color in the square with polka dots.
- Make the circle look like a face.
- Cut out the pieces and use them to make a person.
- Students will use the glue sponges to glue the shapes onto construction paper to form a person.
- Display their completed work in classroom.
